The forms below may be used to nominate for committee of management, provide a motion on notice or nominate a proxy

please note new members are welcome to attend however only members who have held at least 365 days of continuous membership are eligible to vote.

Special Resolution to Alter Constitution

The Darwin Workers Club Constitutional sub-committee proposes the following amendments to the constitution. [new text in bold]

  1. Two year terms for committee of management members by amending clause 26 (3) to read “Committee members must be elected to the Committee at an annual general meeting every two years or appointed under clause 33.
    Which means clause 28 (1) amends to “A committee member holds office for two years until the next annual general meeting unless the member vacates the office under clause 31 or is removed under clause 32.
    (2) Subject to subclause (3) every two years at an annual general meeting the office of each committee member becomes vacant and elections for a new Committee must be held.

  2. Amending the composition of committee (clause 24) by adding ‘four ordinary members’ to the Schedule Part 3 - Additional details and  the text (1) An additional ordinary member for each officer with two positions. (2) An additional ordinary member for each officer who holds two positions. definition: Officer is defined as; secretary, treasurer, president or vice president

  3. Adding the following points to (clause 2) Schedule Part 1 objects and purpose : (c) to provide worker related educational material and news related to workers via a publication in print and/or online and (d) encouraging and assisting members to run for their relevant union body and provide support to grassroots activist.

  4. Providing provisions for life membership by adding the clause below:
    9A. Lifetime Membership

    (1) Lifetime membership is awarded via majority vote of members at a general meeting.
    (2) Lifetime members must be or have been members of the association and made a ‘significant’ contribution to the Darwin Workers Club and/or the union movement in the Northern Territory, Australia.

  5. The terms chair and vice-chair be replaced with president and vice-president throughout the document.

  6. Clause 52 be amended to read
    (1) A member may appoint in writing to the secretary or president another member to be the proxy of the appointing member to attend and vote on behalf of the appointing member at any general meeting
    (2) Only members who are residents in the Northern Territory may provide another member to be a proxy.
    (3) A member may not hold more than two (2) proxies.

  7. Correct the grammatical error of the club name by removing the apostrophe so we are the Darwin Workers Club not the Darwin Workers club
